Christmas Cross Wreath.

Happy Friday......

LESS than a week to go and the countdown is on, l hope you all get the chance to relax as we head into these final days of preparation, things are still pretty cruisy around here (though they prob'ly shouldn't be:-).....l might not have presents organised, food shopped for, or table decorations sorted, but hey l DO  have a wreath and it's always good to get your priorities right......right.... haha.

It was pretty simple to make, l bent some wire into a cross shape, cut strips of tulle and tied them on, and then decorated with ornaments...and it's  something a bit different from the traditional round shape.

Warm sunshine through the kitchen window....a few new pretties for my stall at the Mill and roses in the perfect state of decay.

Not sure how this nest ended up on our lawn but it's construction is engineering genius...right down to the warm and cosy polyester fill used to line it....so clever, oui....

This lovely tapestry was a recent opshop find. It had been hideously framed, which didn't exactly enhance it's loveliness, and l promised myself and "her" that l'd give her a decent makeover. So instead of throwing it to the back of a cupboard or my workroom (which is what usually happens:-) work began immediately l got home....(and so you see how l don't get the necessary things done:-)

l decided on a cushion since they're always useful and this would mean being able to add some interest to the blank (boring) right hand corner. l finally decided on a heavy grey lace with rosette bow, topped off with a bit of bling...

l added this pic so you could see the the fabric l used for the rest of the cushion...it's a heavy damask in a similar grey to the base of the tapestry which l think works well enough. l gathered some of this same fabric to create a ribbon to go around the wall that divides the front from the back. l also inserted a gold braid at the back, to echo the gold braid and gold stones of the brooch at the front.

Found (the other day) a few more old mercury glass Christmas decorations to add to my small (but growing) collection.

Mid 1800's Coalport plates found at the market...looking so NOW they could have been made yesterday.

l hope you all have a safe and happy beautiful Christmas and holiday season. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Til next time,

Bron.

  1. Wow, that tapestry cushion is spectacular! What a wonderful find! I used to cross stitch all the time but rarely do anymore which I really should, I have no excuse not to. I love your little tulle cross, the color is lovely. Your plates are beautiful also:)

We're almost ready for the big day. Most of our presents have shipped to the family we have scattered all over, we're seeing my brother and his family this weekend so I need to shop for my nieces then food shopping we'll probably do on Monday evening. I've been doing some baking but still have one more thing I want to make.

I'm going to attempt to get a post put up later on today! One more Christmas one before it all gets taken down and put away for another year:) Have a lovely weekend!

    1. Hi Victoria....thanks so much for your lovely comment, l'm so glad you enjoyed the post. How wonderful to be able to cross stitch, l've tried a few times but as you surely know already, it requires such patience, careful attention to detail and a high level of perfectionism to do it well....all attributes l've not been blessed with:-)
It sounds as though you've been very busy with preparations for Christmas, so no doubt a weekend relaxing with family will be a welcome break.
l'll pop over to your blog in the next few days to say hi.....l wish you and your family a wonderful, enjoyable Christmas.

  6. Hi Bron, I've been meaning to catch up with you for ages! Your blog is looking as lovely as ever! It is very quiet here but the kids are very much looking forward to Christmas as you can imagine. I have very few decorations out this year as we are not hosting Christmas. I hope you all have a beautiful and restful Christmas and Holiday. Please pass on our wishes to your mum, I did read that she is unwell, which makes me sad. Merry Christmas, Tam xoxo

    1. Tam.....what a wonderful surprise, l'm so happy you stopped by and for your lovely comment. Yes l bet the nippers are that excited and they're at that great age to really enjoy the day for what it is and all the magic and wonder it can have for kids.... l'll definitely say hi to Mum for you when l chat with her in the morning. We're so grateful to still have her here as as you suspected at the beginning of the year Mum felt she was so ill that she was close to death...some scans and a visit to the oncologist confirmed her fears......any way long story short, six more rounds of chemotherapy later and all the tumors have shrunk heaps and she is back to "normal". Of course they can't cure her but her life has been extended by years and she is able to live as she always has, independently and creatively which are so important to her.
A big Merry Christmas to you and the family Tam.....by the way my daughter in now engaged to a guy she met in Adelaide, but he is from near Newy!!!! so they are to marry and settle there in a year or two.....so no doubt hubby and l will be in your neck of the woods sometime in the future:-)) All the best for the silly season and the year ahead:-))
