A New Normal.

Well it's been a busy few weeks around here, but l feel like l'm starting to come to some kind of new "normal" and although life is different now.....l'm finding most days it's not terrible. l've made a conscious effort to change up my routine especially in the morning when l miss Mum the most, since pretty much every morning for the past 25-ish years, Mum and l would talk on the phone at 7.00am.....even if l was working early, or away l'd still ring her. So ingrained is it, that since she's been gone l sometimes dream just before l wake up that the phone's ringing....so to stop myself thinking about it l've been walking or riding my bike instead, thankfully the weather's still beautiful and just being out in the fresh air and seeing the sunrise each day makes me feel grateful instead of miserable.
Along with my Sister and Brother we've begun cleaning out Mums house and meet up once or twice a week to sort, save and throw....that part isn't easy,  but we all get along well, and sharing our memories over a cup of tea helps us deal with these things that HAVE to be done.
As l mentioned in my last post l've been wanting to do a few more creative things as well and the lampshades in my bedroom have been annoying me for ages, all the fabric had come loose so they were begging for an update...hope you like seeing how they turned out:-)

An old chiffon shirt and tulle scarf were found tucked away in my fabric cupboard. l sat down with no particular plan except that l didn't want to cover all the sections totally in fabric. The shirt was quite small so fabric was limited. l tore a lot of it into strips to cover the wire frames. l also created little "window panes" from the shirt fabric and glued them on to the frame to use as a base to add tulle, fabric and millinery flowers. It was a fun project to do and it's nice to have a change.

This is how it looks attached to the cut glass lamp l bought from Target a couple of years ago.

You can just see hubby's in place on the far side of the bed....

Found the lovely bedspread at a garage sale, probly 50-60's era has white fringing all round and is in beautiful nick.....l think l'm going to sell this Roxy bag but l love it so much. Never used and still has it's tag...a whole $5.00 bucks... SNAP:-)

When l figure out how to do it, l'm going to attach these candle holders to my dressing table mirror.

Found this lovely old bit of tole at the market as well.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments last post regarding Mum's passing, it means so much to me....l hope you're having a beautiful, uplifting week.

Til next time,

You Were Amazing.

Hello my friends....l write with sad news today....you see my dear and lovely mum died on the 29th of January. As those of you who pop in here regularly know, she'd been living with cancer for a long time so her death was not unexpected, however l know l'm gonna miss her heaps, but we made lots of wonderful memories which l'll remember and treasure always....She was hugely inspirational in my life, her creativity and sense of fun was a source of joy... not only to her family, but to anyone who met her.

If you'd like to read a little more about her life you can read Here, here and here.

l'm so thankful for routine and "work" l enjoy....'cos that way (here's hoping) however difficult, l can get up each day and find something to look forward to. l have plans for lots more creating, painting and re-opening my etsy shop...it's what Mum would have wanted, moping about wasn't her style and she wouldn't want it to be mine.

K-Mart were selling these plush pink cushions for just $12.00 each...so pretty....

Found a few things to sell in my stall at the Mill....tambour lace throw and Madonna with Child plate.

l made the bird hanger wreath a few years ago.

Found this crown shaped teapot at the market.....l know it's a bit OTT but l thought it'd match in nicely with my other royal bits:-)

Wishing you all a beautiful, happy creative week, thanks so much for stopping by.

Happy Australia Day*!*!*!*

It's Australia Day here in Oz....Hubby and l are thinking we've made a fair contribution to the national cause since son has joined the defence force and this VERY day has headed off to recruits. Six months of preparations and organisation, finally everything's come together...Since daughter left the military only a few days ago it's only fitting we find them a replacement hahaha!!

Last years Australia Day celebrations on Sydney Harbour. ...Struth how impressive is that....

My old point and shoot camera is on the blink...l've been using the same camera through all my blogging years so it's done an awesome job to last this long..... so all these pics were taken on my iPhone. Hope you enjoy them even though they all look kinda sepia coloured to me.
Found some lovely old floral wallpaper at a garage sale a  few weeks ago and used it to cover my inspiration board.

Dreamcatcher poster also found at a garage sale....and some teeny handmade angel wings.

Wishing you all a wonderful week wherever you might be in the world, thanks so much for stopping by...

A New Year Begins.

Happy 2016 everyone.....hopefully your Christmas was all you wished it to be.
l tried to make the day special here since l doubt we'll have another Christmas where the entire family's able to get together. With son and daughter both relocating interstate (different states) and Mum not so well.....not to mention all the nephews growing up and on the cusp of making their own way in the world......anyway it was a beautiful warm day and lunch was delicious despite my 20 year old oven door seal packing up a few days beforehand.....one of the dining room chairs pushed up against the door did double duty as a makeshift seal and gave me a resting place between bursts of prepping and cooking:-) So all worked out ok and l think everyone enjoyed themselves.

The new year's already off to a weird start here.... The other day l was sitting at the dining room table and looked up to see a wallaby ( here) jumping around the backyard.... C'mon Bron, is THAT really weird in Australia you say...well maybe not  if l lived out in the bush, however we live in suburbia, at the end of a long court, and there's no access into our backyard from the road, so that wallaby's travelled quite a few miles and a bit like superman leapt tall buildings in a single bound to end up in our backyard:-)....thankfully he didn't stay long and hopped right back over the neighbours fence and hopefully back up the court from whence he came:-)

A bit of redecorating on the shelf in the bedroom with fresh flowers and the rusty angel wings l found while out and about over Christmas.

New bag for Christmas from daughter which l cheekily picked out for her to give me....Well l was just trying to save her the stress...haha.

Here's a little project l finished a couple of days ago....The lable on this wine bottle l thought was funky and all psychedelic 60's inspired, but l wasn't too keen on the green glass. Instead of painting it (which was my first thought) l was lucky enough to find this tape that to my eyes matched perfectly. l simply cut it up into manageable pieces and stuck them on.
Pulled out the almost antique:-) Deep Purple album, added a few hippie bits and snapped a pic or two.

Hope your weekend's going great so far....thanks for stopping by,

Til next time.

I took a few pics on my iphone of our Christmas lunch table today....not quite finished but almost there.

My daughter folded the napkins into Christmas trees.
